How can I get to Goreme?By BusTourist locations are excellently serviced by the bus system in Turkey. The most common points of departure to and from Goreme are Istanbul, Antalya, and Ankara. Istanbul is an 11 hour night bus, Antalya a 10 hour night bus, and Ankara is approximately 5 hours with services throughout the day. From the bus station in Goreme the pension is only a short walk. Please see the map on the “contact us” page. By PlaneIf you are arriving by plane from Istanbul you will arrive either in Kayseri (70km away) or Nevsehir (40km away) airports. Most of the flights on Turkish or Onur Air have shuttles available for a small fee. Please see the schedule below for flights that have shuttle service available. If your flight does not match one of these shuttle times we can arrange private transportation for you. From Kayseri airport the fee is 100ytl, from Nevsehir airport it is 70ytl. Please let us know in advance if you would like us to make arrangements for a shuttle or private transport. By CarIf you are traveling by car it is very easy to find the pension once you have located the bus station in Goreme. Please see the map on the contact us page. What is the climate like?
No matter what season you are visiting, be sure to bring your sturdy shoes for walking through the valleys and on the cobblestone streets of the villages. With a bit of effort you can find most anything you need here in Cappadocia, but some general suggestions for any time of year are plenty of sunscreen, sunglasses and a hat. Even during the hottest summer months you will appreciate having a shawl or light sweater for the evening. Much like in a desert climate layers are always best! The climate in Cappadocia is continental. It is very hot and sunny in summer, but because we are at an altitude of 900 meters the evenings are cool. In spring the weather can be rainy, with showers that pass in an hour or occasionally last the day. In fall the afternoons are sunny and warm but the evenings can be quite chilly. Winter is cold, with a blanket of snow that completely transforms the landscape.
